Snaptube is a free application for downloading music and videos from the Internet directly to a phone or tablet running Android OS. After searching for an artist within a meta search engine, the media - audio or video - can be put offline. In other words, Snaptube is similar to Vidmate. However, there is a small weakness: the application is not listed in the Play Store.
How to install Snaptube?
Since this application is not available on the official Google download platform, to enjoy Snaptube you will have to download the APK file. You will find the latter available directly on this page. Once downloaded, it is necessary to transfer the APK file to your Android device via USB connection. Of course, you can also restore it directly from your smartphone.
Once the Snaptube application file is on your device, go to the file manager and select it. The Android system on your smartphone will probably ask you to accept unknown sources (it is necessary to verify this step) and then proceed with the installation. Be careful, however, to restore files only from trusted sources. Once the installation is complete, we invite you to deactivate unknown sources to prevent a malicious APK file from invading your device.
- Snaptube: Search by category or keyword
With Snaptube, the user can search by keywords or app categories like science, entertainment, music… Popular video suggestions will be returned along with reading lists thus grouping several videos to download in one go. Getting started is fairly simple and effective. Note, however, that more often than not, English videos are displayed.
- Snaptube is compatible with many services.
However, the real strength of Snaptube lies in its metasearch engine. Thus, it is possible to make a request on YouTube, Dailymotion, SoundCloud, Vimeo, Twitter, and Facebook and download videos from there. But Snaptube goes a step further by offering to download videos in multiple resolutions or simply stream audio to audio.
From the get-go, Snaptube can turn into a giant music platform where you can search for an artist and download songs as MP3 files. Regardless of the resolution or format, these downloads are “free” (well, let’s say that if the app isn’t listed in the Play Store, there’s probably a reason…)
- Snaptube: Getting Started
Positive point: the application is translated into French, at least for the most part. Once you open Snaptube, the interface is very intuitive. If the search on Snaptube is done by default using the YouTube database, it is nevertheless possible to configure the download functions on the other platforms mentioned above.
A clip is quickly downloaded via the small icon next to each thumbnail and title. As for the video part, we encountered loading errors several times, but this does not affect the possibility of recovering the audio stream. Also note the presence of the reader directly within the Android notification area but also a shortcut bar to the different sections of the application.
The management of downloaded files is relatively classic. In a section containing all your downloads, you can find video and audio files with just one click. You will then be able to erase them or listen to them as you please. Be careful, however, the presence of ads is intrusive to say the least, inviting you to download several applications. This is the price to pay to enjoy free titles offline.
If Snaptube is interesting in principle, the application does not reach some competitors. In addition, sometimes invasive ads spoil the experience.
